Diagnostic Procedure
Chest X-Ray
Imaging of the chest to evaluate the lungs, heart, and chest wall for various conditions.
A chest X-ray is one of the most common and widely used diagnostic imaging studies. It produces images of the heart, lungs, airways, blood vessels, and bones of the chest and spine. At Garden State Medical Group, we offer in-house digital chest X-rays with rapid results at both our North Bergen and Secaucus locations.
Your provider may order a chest X-ray to evaluate symptoms such as persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, or fever. Chest X-rays can help diagnose conditions including pneumonia, bronchitis, lung cancer, heart failure, pleural effusion, rib fractures, and other chest abnormalities. They are also used as part of pre-surgical evaluations and routine health screenings.
The procedure is quick, painless, and involves minimal radiation exposure. You will be asked to stand in front of the X-ray machine and hold still for a few seconds while the image is captured. In most cases, images from the front and side are taken. The entire process takes only a few minutes, and our digital technology produces clear, high-resolution images.
Results are typically available the same day. Your provider will review the images and discuss findings with you during your visit or by phone. If further evaluation is needed, such as a CT scan or additional blood work, we will coordinate those next steps promptly. Call (201) 453-2800 to schedule your chest X-ray or to discuss your symptoms with a provider.
