Heart Smart Program
Educational sessions, exercise regimens, heart rhythm monitoring, nutritional management, and preventive testing including ABI, echocardiogram, EKG, Holter monitor, and stress tests.
The Heart Smart Program at Garden State Medical Group is a comprehensive cardiovascular wellness program designed to help patients prevent, detect, and manage heart disease. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, but many risk factors are modifiable with the right education, monitoring, and support.
Our program includes educational sessions on heart-healthy nutrition, exercise regimens tailored to your fitness level and health status, heart rhythm monitoring, and preventive diagnostic testing. Available tests include the ankle-brachial index (ABI), echocardiogram, electrocardiogram (EKG), Holter monitor, and cardiac stress test — all performed in-house at our offices.
Nutritional management is a cornerstone of the Heart Smart Program. Our team works with you to develop a dietary plan that supports healthy cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and blood sugar. We provide practical guidance on meal planning, sodium reduction, and incorporating heart-protective foods into your daily routine.
Regular monitoring is essential for patients with known heart conditions or elevated risk factors. Through scheduled follow-ups, diagnostic tests, and ongoing communication with your care team, we track your progress and make adjustments to your treatment plan as needed. Early detection of changes in heart rhythm, blood pressure, or vascular health can prevent serious cardiac events.
The Heart Smart Program is appropriate for patients with existing heart conditions, those with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, or a family history of heart disease, and anyone who wants to take a proactive approach to cardiovascular health. Contact Garden State Medical Group at (201) 453-2800 to enroll.
